This the first book I have read by Oliver Wendell Holmes.Holmes was a very intelligent author and you can see it in his writing.This particular story is about a girl whose parents have died and she is living with her aunt.She is going to inherit a great deal of money that she seems not to know about and a lawyer comes across the paper detailing the fortune and does all he can to get the girl to marry him.But a true friend discovers the ruse and prevents the deception from happening,the book is somewhat wordy and at times I thought he took too much time in details but this does not take anything away from the story,I feel that you will enjoy it.Product details

one of my best read
The Guardian Angel by Oliver Wendell Holmes. I picked this book because i wanted to read about Angels or rather read a book containing an Angel with a halo and wings as one of the characters. This book is about an Angel of a different kind. An Earthly kind. I got past my disappointment and read the entire book. It had quit a few twists. The story turned out to be okay and somewhat heart-warming.The thing I did not like about the story other than the fact that it was not exactly what I thought it was about, was that it was somewhat difficult to follow the characters and difficult to remember who or which ones were the characters. The wording from around the 1700`s and 1800`s were sometimes difficult to understand and or follow.
Different from what I expected Holmes to write. A good love story.
The title is what drew me in. I started it once but the old wordy worrying was at first cumbersome and I put it away. Then after a time I picked it up again and this time became captivated by the same thing that turned me away previously. It was a great read.
I read this book mainly because of the title... and because I had never read any of Oliver Wendell Holmes books. I am so glad I did! This story is a timeless classic for all who appreciate a wonderful story about love, greed and what happens when one doesn't follow their best path! I LOVED this story... I will read more of Oliver Wendell Holmes books! Thank you for putting this timeless classic on !
While Oliver Wendell Holmes Is not my usual choice of relaxing fiction, I did enjoy it as a change from my usual my usual mystery/adventure books. I also enjoy books about angels, but this seemed rather different from both Angel fiction and non-fiction ones. Still, it is an interesting read.
